I get sick of rebuilding and never actually have a team that can or will compete! Trade Howard atleast get better! I'm a Duke fan but Miles Plumlee isn't an upgrade! We cleared up what $4 million but got worse doing it! Let's go watch the Braves, I think they have been rebuilding too!

Joey BarkerI just don't get this trade. I really don't. We got a lower second round pick, it was pretty much a wash financially, and I don't see neither of these players really playing a role in this team's future.

Tom TatumWhen you consider that Dwight can't shoot, can't pass and can't dribble, you have to wonder how he makes so much money playing basketball! He rebounded well. But his defensive effort was marked by a lack of discipline that got him in constant foul trouble, so he ended up sitting on the bench a lot. Maybe that was by his design - he got paid to sit.

Ryan HallCap room and flexibility is nice. But let's also realize that no top free agents want to come to Atlanta. I was excited last year getting a washed up Dwight. I think it's time to sign and trade Millsap to gain a pick or two in the draft and let's start the rebuild. Dennis, Prince, and THJ at this point are the only untouchables.

Philip PatersonLove this new GM's way of thinking it's the kind of things I've been shouting at hawks fans for years. If you are not close, by that I mean you don't have the player you believe is going to take you over the top and win a title, everyone is expendable.you keep yourself flexible and maintain mobility as an organization until you have the players worthy of a commitment. I feel like this is the start of a rebuild. Hopefully this time we have better basketball minds than we did last time when we had very high draft picks. Once we get a cornerstone player or two in hand through the draft then you start spending money on pieces to put around them and attempting to maintain continuity with your franchise players.

Stephen McCluskeyIn 2016, the Rockets with Howard go 41-41 and barely slide in to an 8th seed. They looked sluggish and selfish. The Rockets' team assist totals in 2015-2016 were 18th in the league. The next year, the Rockets trade Howard, and "magically" become to 4th in the league in total team assists and move to the 3rd seed in the western conference. Before the Howard days of the Hawks --in 2014-2016-- the Hawks were number 2 in team assists in the league. In 2016-2017, we added Howard and our team went to the 9th spot for team assists.... It's no coincidence. For as long as I've been a Hawks fan, good Hawks basketball is based in sharing the basketball. Ball movement magically doesn't happen with Dwight. I get the counter argument: "look at his stats and PER." My response to that is: look at Josh Smith's averages/PER because he had the ability to show up on the stat sheet... The season after trading Smith, the Hawks were the 1st seed in the eastern conference. Just like our team was rejuvenated by shedding itself of the loser-attitude of Smith, the Hawks will make a better push this year without Dwight.

James EvansHad to be done. He did help with the rebounding but doesn't seem to fit into the style that Coach B wants to play. I wish him the best of luck. The biggest issue I think that has a negative impact is that ATL finally got a big name via free agency and ended up trading him after only 1 season. It could keep other free agents at bay...hopefully not, but it's something to think about.

Jason CrumbleyStupid trade. Hawks now get to pay an end of the bench center 12.5 million a year for the next 4 years, and 6 million a year for the next 2 years for a backup SG. That's 62 million total. (According to what was on ESPN's website.) They owed Howard less than that, and for only two years. If they were trying to dump salary, they should have traded Bazemore.

Chris CauseyI hate it for Dwight. By all accounts he was a nice enough guy who seemed to want everything to work out. I don't consider the trade really a reflection on him as much as it is a reflection of the current state of the Hawks. Looks like it's time for the rebuild.

Tommy Gray Jr.So I'm a season ticket hold who bought a Howard jersey our last home playoff game in expectation of having it signed this season. Why do I continue to renew my tickets? I have yet to see a consistent direction in which the team is going. Bazemore contract last year was a mistake but Bud loves him. He should have been gone. Turn over machine, can't dribble, bad decision making & poor shot selection. Fan day at the aquarium should have showed you something. People showed up to see Howard. His line was all the way down the stairs and everybody's else was short. Face it, Milsap probably gone so who I'm I paying my money to see? Dennis, Ersan & Prince. Those are probably the only decent players we have left. Moo sometimes. Teams are out here building super teams and we're building aau teams. Then y'all have the audacity to increase my ticket price! If I don't see a clear direction after draft night these tickets are gone. I can't continue to pay to see this happen to the Hawks.

Lue BonillaDoes it really matter. This is a two to four team league and unless we're setting up to get LeBron we're no worse off than we were. I don't blame Dwight, he played well for us, the system didn't allow much more from him. Let's see what this new gm from golden state has in his plans for this team moving forward. We'll still fall into the playoffs with this pathetic team, it's the east. #Hawks

1 day ago   ·  4
Avatar

Philip PatersonPersonally I don't mind it, I feel the Hawks as an organization and Atlanta as a Fanbase needs to get over hanging onto these middling players that produce mediocre results. Build a team from the ground up with an intention to acquire generational talent and win a championship. Atlanta fans are so petrified of the team missing the playoffs for multiple seasons that we're always stuck overpaying for rosters that are destined to get eliminated in the second round. Last time we tried to do a full-scale rebuild in the mid 2000s we had an incompetent GM in Billy Knight. Rebuilding sucks but if we have a front office with a good head on their shoulders that acquires top picks over three or four years we can have what teams like Minnesota or Philadelphia have now, a Great young team that has a bright future ahead of them.

Brad SellarsThoughts are that this screams full rebuild. Might as well say goodbye to any chance of signing Millsap. No one will do a sign and trade bc they know we have no cards to play. I really thought some of our bench players were ready to step up, add a few good draft picks, re-up Hardaway Jr. and make another push up in the East. When Lebron goes to the Lakers next year we only really would have needed to compete with the Celtics
